By 19mayas Fashion is capable of changing at any time anywhere. We can invent our own fashion and no one would stop us. This paper is not just inventors of fashion but about the fit for time and culture. Both time and culture have changed fashion because inventors of fashion had invented very many different styles and they made clothing that fits the weather and the style for their culture.
The 18th century was one of the fanciest centuries for fashion. The lower class people, which means pioneers and not rich people, wore very plain and straight-foreword. They usually wore plaid. The middle class which means wealthy people wore silk and and delicate clothing. This includes small hats, embroidered dresses and things that weren’t the very fancy things. Now the upper class which means super-duper wealthy people wore big puffy dresses. This includes, big hats with many flowers and ribbons, flouncy dresses with more ribbons, embroidered with many small beads and stitches. Fancy shoes were a great addition to accessories. Mens shoes sometimes looked like womens shoes.
19th century clothing was different from the 18th century clothing. In the 19th century the clothes was less big and puffy. Some types were still fancy, but many were not. At this time there were more ribbons and flowers than any other time. There weren’t any lower, middle, and upper classes. The farmers and pioneers still wore the plaid clothing and the wealthier still wore the more fancier clothing. The wealthy wore tighter clothing in this century. The dresses were still embroidered with tiny stitches and beads. At this time the ruffly clothing was coming in. Ruffles at the bottom, at the top and on the sleeves were the most common places for the ruffles. In the 18th Century women had very puffy hairstyles but in the 19th Century women had less puffy wigs and hairstyles. You would be able to see if the shoes were womens or mens. Shoes were very delicate.
The Russian winters were very cold so they had winter fashion. People in Russia these days, were the same thing as we do here in America. But in winter, Russia gets really cold unlike us. To protect them from the cold, they wear valenki boots. These boots are really warm and are made of soft, cozy felt. This keeps the Russians warm during the cold winter. They also wear shapki. These are warm hats made out of comfy-cozy wool.
Japanese clothing is very beautiful and was passed on from generation to generation. For example, Kimono dresses. These are traditional beautiful dresses that the Japanese people wore for thousands of years. The Kimono dress is still worn now. It’s usually only worn for special occasions but back then, it was worn all the time. Geta is a platform shoe thats raised so your feet or long dresses don’t get muddy.
Polish clothing is very decorative and these decorative dresses were designed for dances. The dresses are called Krakowianki dresses. This is a traditional dancing dress named after the dance, Krakowiaczek. The dress has very small stitches often flower stitches and many beautiful patterns. Red, yellow, orange, and black are very popular colors for the dress. It comes in different styles but it still has some similarities.
United States clothing was very popular for it’s shoes and jeans. In America, blue jeans are the most popular kinds of pants. Girls and boys wear them. Blue jeans were first made in San-Francisco by Levi Strauss. It was made for men who worked hard in fields and was dyed blue so you couldn’t see the stains. The zipper was invented in the U.S. The first zipper was called clasp locker invented in 1893. It was mainly used for boots. That kept getting stuck so another zipper was invented. It was first used in the U.S Army. Sneakers were invented in 1910. Some one had the idea to use a rubber bottom to get a better grip on the ground. Sneakers became very popular.
As you can see, fashion has changed because of culture and time. We might think that some cultural clothing and past clothing may be weird but to the people of the culture and past, it seemed fashionable. Fashion is a wonderful thing because everybody can choose their style. By Anna Hoffman This articles talks about how different cultures have changed are modern images of what we call fashion. In this articles 19mayas talks about 18th and 19th century fashion, Russian, Japanese, and American pioneering fashion and how they were introduced to their culture and how they mesh in todays idea of fashion. So even though the word fashion covers a wide view of differences in meaning and understanding, it still stands to be influenced by every inch of the four corners of the world and its unique cultures that call it home. I absolutely loved this article, because 19mayas did a fantastic job of giving examples of the number of different cultures and time periods of fashion. And background information of these examples of different pioneering cultures first rock solid ideals of fashion. But I feel that 19mayas could of done a better job at providing images and examples of these fashion trends, and how they related to modern pieces of clothing or outfits. Even though this article could use some work my opinion of this article still stays the same, that my readers should read this article because it is very informative and is mentally intriguing to those who are intrigued by fashion.
